Teaching A Town to Cook: Jamie's Food Revolution- Episode 104

Did you have a chance to watch this week's episode of Jamie's Food Revolution? If not, jump to the full episode link.

This week, the episode focused on teaching people to cook starting with 1000 in a week and winning over some local critics including lunch lady, Alice and radio DJ, Rod. To get some momentum, Jamie organized a pretty clever food flash mob at Marshall University (in link above.) He also talked about the serious health effects of being overweight from the oversized coffins to the emotional effects on overweight people and their loved ones.

What did you think of this week's episode?

Do you cook at home?

How have you learned to cook?

I'm not the kind of person who cries at Extreme Makeover Home Edition stories, but this series is really affecting. I just can't believe anyone would be AGAINST what Jamie is trying to teach - or that anyone wouldn't want to learn to cook!

But what I'm most interested in knowing is how many of the lessons are sticking with the residents of Huntington after the cameras stop rolling. I know they're still holding cooking lessons in the space, but how many of the families have gone back to frozen pizza?

I also want to know an update with the schools and the family that Jamie visited and the high schoolers. I suspect something is coming.

I felt like this week's episode was a bit contrived. At least the rivalry between the DJ and Jaime. The DJ was a pretty bad "actor" when it came to having his come to Jesus moment. I guess the good guy/bad guy routine makes for good TV, but for me it took me out of the moment. That said, I still feel weepy during each episode and LOVE this show and the movement!

Tracy, I can see what you mean. It seemed like DJ Rod had a pretty quick conversion. But, I'm sure it was to have a counterpoint.
