Multiple news sources are reporting a canned pumpkin shortage as a result of poor weather last year that resulted in a small crop. There are worries about the 2009 harvest as well. We've found canned pumpkin in some local retailers and not in others . . . one grocer told me that they hadn't received any Libby's shipments in two months. Apparently, some folks are resorting to getting their canned pumpkin on the internet. However, buyer beware, some are reporting receiving dented cans!

Strange you should say this. I was on a quest for canned pumpkin 1 month ago to make pumpkin ice cream and had to go to 4 stores before I found any. I thought it was due to it not quite being pumpkin season yet. Is there any shortage in fresh pumpkins for the current harvest? Perhaps we'll be baking pumpkins this year instead of turning to cans!
Well I heard that the shortage should be over with this year's harvest. We stocked up on a few extra cans just in case. Also, if you do bake a pumpkin, make sure it's a pie pumpkin not a carving pumpkin.
Wow, does that look good.
I want those RIGHT NOW
